About Michael...

Michael Bacala is an outstanding, young Polish violinist who started playing violin at the age of 9. He started his formal musical education at the Stefan Jaracz Music School in Lodz, Poland. He graduated from the school in 1994 receiving a diploma with distinction. That was followed by a tertiary education at the Henryk Wieniawski High Music School and Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland,graduating in 2004, and further in Rostock,Germany.

Michael's musical talent was recognised very early. In 1993 in his 1st National Competition Michael won Special Price. In 2002 he received yearly scholarship from the Academy of Music in Enschede, Holland. Michael was asked to perform as concertmaster at the Chamber Orchestra in Rostock, Germany, when he was still a student of the Hochschule fur Music and Theatre, and received a scholarship from the Mecklenburg Ministry of Culture in 2006.

Michael does also have an amazing ability to connect with the audience, so his popularity as a soloist together with his musical skills continued to grow. He performed in musical theatres in Poland, Germany and the music capital of the world, Vienna, Austria. He played at the international events as well. For example, Michael was chosen to play for Pope John Paul II on the 25 anniversary of His pontificate in 2003 at a concert that was transmitted around the world. In 2004 Michael also performed at a concert in Brussels commemorating Poland joining the European Union.Since 2010 Michael thrilling the audiences with his brilliant musical talent on many of the world's finest cruise liners including Cunard, Crystal Cruises, The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea Cruises, Princess Cruises, Saga Cruises, Holland America Line, and Fred Olsen Cruises. Michael has made many recordings for Austrian (ORF,W24), German (ZDF,NDR) and Polish Radio and TV (Radio Lodz,TVP3). He participated in many violin master classes with internationally recognised violin virtuosos such as: Prof Wanda Wilkomirska, Prof. Marina Yaschvili, Christiane Hutcap, Barbara Le Monnier and Monica Lisik. Michael does not limit himself to classical music, and is constantly looking for new ways to impart his love for music in general, and violin music in particular, to reach more and more people.
