By the time she was 16 she had achieved distinctions in her exams, awarded an ALCM Diploma and was subsequently offered a Scholarship to The Royal College of Music in London to study piano professionally. She declined as her passion for singing was stronger than her love of the piano. Her first stage performance was at the age of 13 when she took the role of 'Brigitta' one of the Von Trapp children in a local production of 'The Sound Of Music'. This gave Maria her love of performing and was the beginning of over 20 years in countless leading roles in beautiful Welsh Theatres. During those years Maria achieved many ambitions. She developed a successful tutoring programme for Piano and Voice, became an accompanist for various Operatic Societies and Choirs and even conducted Orchestras in her role as Musical Director! At the age of 36 Maria took the plunge and become a professional entertainer. This opened many new doors for her and has given her wonderful experiences whether it be performing in intimate venues or famous theatres that seat 1,700!
