Fiona Jessica's 'exquisitely refined' and 'hauntingly beautiful' soprano voice is currently dazzling audiences worldwide and she is fast becoming one of the most exciting, compelling and versatile performers of her generation. With her innate passion for music, strong sense of drama and effervescent personality, she breaks down the elitist barriers surrounding the perception of opera and thrills audiences with arias interpreted in her own unique style.
Born in London into a family of classical musicians, Fiona began her musical studies on the cello. At the age of 16 she discovered her soprano voice and shortly afterwards won a singing scholarship to Cambridge University where she studied Languages and Art History. Whilst singing in the choir of Trinity College Chapel she toured Europe, the USA and Asia, singing in the major concert halls, and also making several recordings.
However, it was once she'd recorded Schubert's Ave Maria to critical acclaim that she decided to leave the choral scene and forge a career as a soloist. Working both in opera and oratorio around the UK, performing mainly in the field of baroque, she also entered the commercial scene as a recording artist and, amongst others, was selected to be the voice on the Volkswagen Polo advert 'Angels' which won an award for music and led to her opening the Silverstone Classic Car Festival.
The producer and composer Ben Robbins at Dean St Studios, Soho, was touched by the purity and sensitivity of her voice and started to write original classical songs for her. His composition In Paradisum subsequently won a Classic FM Competition and was made Video of the Week on Classic FM TV, which then led to a proposal to produce an album of entirely new music for Fiona Jessica's soprano voice, earning her the review 'a voice of exquisite beauty with perfect intonation and easy high range'. Her voice was then chosen to appear on several Classic FM compilation albums, in particular VOICES 2008.
Fiona Jessica is currently in high demand as Guest Headline Entertainer on luxury cruise lines, and is flown around the world to perform her One-Woman Show of opera, popera and songs from the Broadway shows. Her repertoire extends from Mozart to Gershwin, Schubert to ABBA, Handel to Bernstein and she is considered one of the most versatile and unique performers in the industry. She was most recently invited to perform her show on MS Balmoral's Titanic Memorial Cruise. As a female artist working in the competitive and image-conscious world of showbiz, Fiona Jessica is very aware of the pressures put upon young girls and women in our current society. She therefore dedicates a portion of her schedule to giving motivational presentations to teenage girls on self-esteem issues, performance skills and personal brand building.
