About Daniel...

Daniel (piano, keyboards, trombone) has been performing all over the world since graduating from Oxford University where he studied composition with Robert Sherlaw-Johnson and George Benjamin. He won the OsgoodComposition Prize for his String Quartet, which as premiered by the Allegri Quartet. He is the son of composer Richard Anthony Hewson (the RAH Band), who arranged for The Beatles, Herbie Hancock, Art Garfunkel and Diana Ross. His mother is an accomplished pianist and composer.

After playing trombone in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, He forged a career in London as a freelance pianist, trombonist, composer and arranger. He co-founded electronic band The Beat Foundation and went on to work as a string arranger, notably for the Madonna single "Music" and three Groove Armada albums. He also co-composed their track "Edge Hill", which was featured on the soundtrack of the motion picture "Tomb Raider" (Paramount Pictures). He also played the piano onboard a number of voyages with Swan Hellenic Cruises.

He has composed for orchestra, piano, chamber groups and big bands. He launched his classical album “Secret Doors” and his works for big-band have been recorded by The Reunion Big Band (Portugal) and his music appears on EMI Production Music and the Audio Network record labels. He has released five original albums, performed with artists such as Nigel Kennedy, the Oxford Chamber Orchestra, Stomp's Lost and Found Orchestra, Incognito, Omar, has appeared at the BBC Proms, the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, Rock in Rio and recorded at Abbey Road, on Radio 3 and for Classic FM.

He currently plays piano at Claridges, The Langham Hotel and The Ivy as well as for dance classes at the London Studio Centre and Trinity Laban School.
